Flow limiters and water-saving fittings [1]
- Check by a short test at several connections in the house whether flow limiters are already installed.
- Fill a bucket with the tap fully open and measure the time it takes to do this.
- Class B or better flow limiters are installed if it takes longer to fill the bucket than:
Content of measuring vessel | 1 liter | 5 liters | 10 liters |
---|---|---|---|
Filling time washbasin | 8 sec. | 38 sec. | 75 sec. |
Filling time shower | 7 sec. | 33 sec. | 67 sec. |
- If the bucket is full sooner, it is worth installing water-saving sanitary products.
Water consumption
In the Swiss standard SIA 385/2 [1] water consumption values are defined in standard liters. It describes hot water consumption per person and day with a temperature of 60°C and an initial cold water temperature of 10°C. If the real temperatures differ, a correction via the following formula is required:
- corrLiters = 50 / (hotWaterTemp - coldWaterTemp) * standardLiters
- e.g. 50 / (45-10) * 40 = 57 liters
Water consumption planning values in liters/(person day)
Standard | 10/60°C | 10/45°C |
---|---|---|
simple | 40 | 57 |
medium | 45 | 64 |
high | 55 | 79 |
